About Pyramid Tampa

In 1998, Pyramid Tampa joined the Pyramid family. Opening just as the Pyramid arts program was created allowed us to immediately put that unique focus into action. We currently serve more than 160 students in the Hillsborough County area.

Pyramid Tampa is best known for its unique arts program, which offers a full range of visual and performing arts, catering to each student’s level of ability and interest. Pyramid performers and artists regularly perform and exhibit locally and in other Florida venues.

Pyramid Tampa is committed to serving those with severe disabilities as it seeks new ways to engage its students, to provide an environment in which they can find excitement and meaning – and to provide them the opportunity to become full participants in their communities.

Our Services

The Arts

At the heart of the Pyramid, Tampa experience is a robust performing and visual arts program where students learn the language, history, and principles of the arts and produce art that has excited theater and gallery patrons in Tampa and beyond. Our unique arts program caters to each student’s level of ability and interest, provides the opportunity for creativity, self‐expression – and self‐esteem. Visual arts students have an opportunity to create art through a variety of mediums. Performing arts students learn self‐expression through acting, singing and dancing lessons (wheelchair and traditional). Summer and winter showcases are staged annually for audiences of nearly 500.

Person-Centered Care

Pyramid Tampa provides services that ensure students’ ability to fully participate in the meaningful activities that enrich their lives. Services including behavior management, sensory integration, and repositioning that support the holistic and individualized approach Pyramid Tampa strives to provide.

Life Skills

Pyramid Tampa focuses on person‐centered day programming. Our guiding principles are a deep belief in the abilities of our students, and choice. Students may choose from a number of classes including daily living skills, human rights, advocacy, nutrition, cooking, computers, communication skills, and exercise. Students have a voice in Pyramid Tampa activities through monthly Student Council meetings. Competitive employment training is through its Jobs Club, and some on‐site employment is available including an aluminum can recycling project.

Community

Pyramid Tampa offers students the opportunity to connect with their community through various vocational, educational and celebratory activities. We partner with community, educational and civic organizations, like the Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association, The Rotary club, Canines for Christ, Bay Hope Church, Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center, the University of Tampa and the University Area Community Development Corporation, all of which provide opportunities inclusion.
