Dear Families, Providers, Supporters, and our beloved Pyramid Students,

To say that 2020 has been a difficult year is an understatement. Every aspect of our lives, from family to work to community, has been, and continues to be, affected by the challenges this year has brought. Yes, it surely has been difficult…and it has been different. But, in spite of it all, we at Pyramid have seen good and wonderous things. And we have gained a new perspective which allows us, with the dawning of the new year, to find hope and move forward.

Over this tumultuous year, the positive impact Pyramid and the arts has in filling the lives of so many with meaning and purpose has become more apparent than ever. Because of this we are more determined than ever to continue to persevere and reopen despite the challenges we all face.

Pyramid’s staff have been serving a critical role in assuring the health, safety, and well-being of people with disabilities living in residential facilities across the state. Recently, we were able to slowly begin serving these individuals at our Pyramid programs once more. We cannot describe the overwhelming joy we have hearing laughter and activity through the halls of Pyramid once again. Meanwhile we have assessed our facilities for capacity, making necessary renovations, and have planned a phased reopening for the return of all of our students.

Many of our students are very anxious to again begin attending Pyramid and, understandably, some of may decide that it is best to continue to shelter. As with everything we do, we are approaching each participant individually and working with students, families, and guardians to determine the best plan.

For those students who will not be attending in-person right away, we urge you to check out Pyramid’s Virtual Training program. Our performing and visual art coordinators have created exciting and interactive training and it has been a great way for many individuals to see their friends and stay connected. Pyramid has secured grants to assist with technology needs for those who may need it. To find out how to participate, contact your Pyramid’s director!

To our supporters, we thank you not only for your past contributions, but for continuing to call and support Pyramid. Like many of our families, Pyramid has suffered daunting financial losses. With your help, however, we will survive and continue to provide world-class services. As we prepare our Pyramid programs to come back online, we need your support now more than ever. While we humbly ask that you consider contributing to Pyramid in your end-of-year giving, support can come in many forms, so please do not hesitate to reach out to your local Pyramid contact if you are able to help.   You are also welcome to contact me at [email protected].

So, here’s to the new year, Friends of Pyramid! May it be considerably healthier, wealthier and kinder for us all.
